Tacchi Morris Theatre

This £2.6 million development was for the provision of a Performing Arts Centre on the site adjoining the Heathfield Community School in Taunton. The project was carried out for the Local Authority with funding from a National Lottery bid.

The 20,900 square foot building was built with a two storey curved, glazed frontage harbouring the curved internal mezzanine foyer floor with external curved, covered balcony. The 300 seat auditorium is trapezoidal in shape with a proscenium arch and stage concealing the green room, music practice rooms and studios. The rear practice rooms and studio areas are of load bearing masonry. The auditorium is of steel frame construction with insitu reinforced concrete balcony areas while the foyers are of a lightweight steel frame and glazed curtain wall.
